Iranian Garden to Honor HM the King
Forging Closer Ties with Thailand

His Excellency Mohsen Pakaein, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, acting on behalf of the government and citizens of Iran, has confirmed participation in the International Garden section of Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, Thailand's first ever international horticultural exposition.

This goodwill gesture will enable Iran to join Thailand in the auspicious occasion of the Sixtieth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty the King of Thailand's Accession to the Throne and His Majesty's Eightieth Birthday.

Iran plans to present classical horticulture, architecture and design in a special garden. The purpose of Iran's involvement is to honor His Majesty the King of Thailand on these very special occasions and to celebrate the long and cordial relations between the two countries.

"Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 provides an excellent platform for people in both countries to exchange ideas and information that will boost trade, business and generally enhance relations," commented HE the Ambassador, who has confirmed plans to visit the site personally in November.

"This is Thailand's first international horticultural exposition and Iran wants to be involved. It is a chance for all of us to enjoy the great variety of local and international horticultural attractions that will be on display.

"Thailand is celebrated for her ability to produce and export a great variety of fresh and processed products, both agricultural and horticultural," explained the ambassador.

"The Iranian economy also has a strong agricultural base, so this an excellent opportunity to stimulate awareness among visitors in an authentic cultural setting of our own products. These include original Iranian tea, sunflowers, roses, date palms, persimmons, and even fresh caviar. We will also have samples of perfume as well as traditional arts and crafts. I hope we can also bring in some musicians.

"Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 can help promote tourism and trade between our two countries. Thailand is already well known in Iran for exports of rice, frozen shrimps and canned foods. There are plenty more Thai products that appeal to Iranians, such as halal food, fresh produce and fruits. Work admittedly still needs to be done on the shipment and transportation of such goods between our two countries. I can say that the Thai and Iranian governments are constantly working together to smooth the efficient flow of trade and improve bilateral relations."
