| The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) recently confirmed participation in the Gardens for the King section of Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, the country’s first international horticultural exposition to honor His Majesty the King.
The Gardens for the King exhibition area consists of 30 International Gardens and 80 Corporate Gardens sponsored by state agencies and private Thai organizations.
“PAT is very honored to participate in Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, one of the grand celebrations which will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from November 1, 2006 to January 31, 2007, to mark the auspicious occasion of the Sixtieth Anniversary Celebration of His Majesty the King of Thailand's Accession to the Throne in 2006 and His Majesty's Eightieth Birthday in 2007.
“This event presents the perfect opportunity for PAT to be involved in the celebration of the exceptional lifetime achievements of His Majesty,” noted PAT acting Director-General, Mr. Yongyos Palanitisena.
PAT is contributing 15 million baht for its participation in the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek Gardens for the King exhibition. PAT’s Corporate Garden will showcase the impressive floral and horticultural diversity for which Thailand is well known. It will also vividly illustrate the concepts, theories and philosophies of His Majesty the King, as well as best practices reflected in the Royal Projects initiated by His Majesty.
More than two million visitors are expected to attend the expo. Once it ends, the Gardens for the King, including the PAT Corporate Garden, will be turned into a public park, offering local residents and visitors from around the world a peaceful green area in which to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
