Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 Preview
Captivates Tokyo Flower Expo Visitors
The Royal Flora Ratchaphruek Organizing Committee and Project Management Team continue to travel the world as part of the ongoing promotional campaign to raise international awareness of Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 – International Horticultural Exposition for His Majesty the King.
The Thai delegation was most recently in Tokyo, Japan, to represent Thailand at the International Flower Expo Tokyo (IFEX). During the three days of IFEX, the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek Project Management Team seized every opportunity to promote the event directly.
As visitors stopped by, team members invited senior government representatives, trade visitors and potential exhibitors to participate in Thailand’s first ever international horticultural exposition which will be held in the city of Chiang Mai from 1 November 2006 to 31 January 2007. Brochures and information kits were also distributed.
In addition to direct participation at IFEX, the Thai delegation hosted a press conference that was well attended by key representatives from the Japanese business community. Invited guests consisted of representatives from Japan’s horticultural associations, airlines, travel agents and tour operators, travel trade media as well as agriculture-related media.
His Excellency the Thai Ambassador to Tokyo, Mr. Suvidhya Simaskul, presided at the press conference. Following the welcome address and official introduction to Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 by the Thai ambassador, Mr. Shinya Wada in his capacity as Vice President of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) expressed full AIPH support for the organization of Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, an AIPH-recognized A1 International Horticultural Exposition.
The press briefing was very well received, and attendees followed up with numerous questions about the Chiang Mai expo.
Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 is being hosted by Thailand to commemorate the Sixtieth Anniversary Celebration of His Majesty the King of Thailand’s Accession to the Throne in 2006 and His Majesty’s Eightieth Birthday in 2007. The 80-hectare exposition site is located at the Royal Agricultural Research Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Every effort is being made to ensure that Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 will be a spectacular showcase of the world’s horticultural diversity and worthy of the title Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 – International Horticultural Exposition for His Majesty the King. Destined to be a wondrous spectacle over its 92-day duration, a total of 2,500,000 plants, including over 2,200 species of tropical flora, will be on display. The expo will also include a great variety of cultural highlights and performances as well as leisure and entertainment activities.
